Fun with old sewing books

I pulled my vintage copy of The Vogue Sewing Book off the shelf last night and started looking through it’s musty pages.  I had forgotten how bright and unattractive most of the featured fabrics were, having to remind myself that this was Copyright 1970.  There are still some good tips in between the covers, so I hold on to it for reference purposes and a good laugh once in a while.  This section was a nice little blast from the past for anyone into couture designers.  It started with “Introducing” and then named the who’s who of fashion by area at the time.  I thought I would share these great pictures with everyone today.

(Pierre Balmain, Marc Bohan and Pierre Cardin)

(Jules Crahay, Molyneux, Givenchy, Girard Pipart, Michael Goma, Yves Saint Laurent, Guy Laroche, Emanuel Ungaro)

(Belinda Bellville, Jo Mattli, Michael of London, Sybil Connolly)

(Fabiani, Pucci, Frederico Forquet, Simonetta, Galitzine, Valentino, Pertegaz)

(Bill Blass, Donald Brooks, James Galanos)

(Chuck Howard, Oscar de La Renta, Teal Traina, Chester Weinberg)

So, I have to ask how many do you recognize?
